Nederlandse versieThird day: from Marseillette to Trčbes

The first of May we travel to Trčbes. We arrive at about one o'clock. We join in a row of six boats. This part of the canal is magnificent with on both sides of the canal high plane-trees. De roots creep under the towpath and we can see them at the bank disappearing interweaved in the water. On this holiday we see many pedestrians on the towpath. Halfway we help a couple of boys with our bicycle-pump because they 're having a flat tire of one of their bicycles.

Later in the afternoon some boats are leaving in the direction of Marseillette. The happy French and the German are staying. There is little to do in Trčbes itself. Everything is closed because of this holiday. We had promised the boys an ice-cream but it 's late in the afternoon before we can redeem this promise as a little shop opens.

This morning I cycled a track back. The weather is beautiful but the towpath is muddy at many places. I make a couple of photographs of the triple lock called Fonfille.

In the afternoon I cycle along a part of the canal but now in the opposite direction. About a kilometer after Trčbes I see an aqueduct over the river Orbiel. It 's not so easy to take a picture of this. At some distance of the aqueduct  I manage quite well at the banks of the river.
