My Life

Making an executable has always been my ambition. At seven, I had an old Win 3.1 computer at my grandpa's place. There, I opened a .bat file that installed something and I found out that I could open the .bat as if it was plain text. I really wanted to make a file like that, so I started studying the batch file in QBasic, which I used as a text-editor. I made my first installer in batch (it copied files) and I made a password authentication application. I checked the input and used errorlevels to judge whether it was the right key or not. I used my own ascii-drawing to make it look like a Windows password dialog.
I was ten when I got introduced to Delphi. I was glad I could make .exe files (renaming the .bat to .exe didn't work that well :)). I didn't have any books on how to program, so I started with the basics. Because I had no idea how to make a bigger/nicer application, I sticked to the basics for quite some time.
Though, by looking at source-codes and reading a lot, I managed to program myself into a new grade. The programs started to get more complicated and I was happy with the progress.
While searching for info, I found out about NLDelphi. It is a Dutch Delphi forum, and I joined their community. There I helped and got helped. Since my joining, I have learned a lot and my skills got improved.
Now, I am an active Delphi programmer and still a member of NLDelphi. I am not planning to stop using Delphi for a long while, so expect more projects. :)
