Sokoban

Sokoban is a classic puzzle game invented in Japan. The original game was written by Hiroyuki Imabayashi in. In 1980 it won a computer game contest. Mr Hiroyuki Imabayashi is president of the company Thinking Rabbit Inc. in Japan. The game is Copyright © 1982 Thinking Rabbit. Over the years many versions for all platforms have been made and new levels are created all the time.

Sokoban means warehouse keeper in Japanese. The object of the game is to push chests into their correct position in a crowded warehouse with a minimal number of pushes and moves. The boxes can only be pushed, never pulled, and only one can be pushed at a time. It sounds easy, but the levels range from very
easy to extremely difficult, some takes hours and even days to figure out.
The simplicity and elegance of the rules have made Sokoban one of the most
popular logic games.

Almost everyone knows the game Sokoban, the Japanese puzzle game, and loves its simplicity. Yet, there are - as far as I know - not many open-source projects of this popular game. About a year ago I figured it was about time that one came online. One in my native language, Delphi. Since my start I have learned many new techniques and methods to make the game run faster and more user friendly. In the downloads section and below, you can download the source and the executable. The just released bèta version 3.0.0.1 has got skin support. Learn how to make your own skins here. You don't have to be a programmer to enjoy Sokoban!

If you're interested in a 3D version of Sokoban of the same author, you can check out this page!
