I
Let there be
invocation, with
![]()
![]()
sacrifice and with prayer
to the
immortal,
shining,
swift-steeded
Sun !
II
When the Light of the
Sun
waxes brighter,
when the brightness of the
Sun
waxes warmer:
then the
heavenly forces do
arise. III
They
pour their
Glory upon the
Earth, which
was
made by
Ahura,
for
the increase of the
World of
ASHA, for the
increase of the
Creatures of
ASHA, for
the
increase of the
immortal,
shining
swift-steeded
Sun.
IV
And
when the
Sun
rises,
then the
Earth, which was
made
by the
Ahuras,
becomes
clean :
the running
Waters
become
pure ; the
Waters of the Wells
become
pure ; the
Waters of the Sea
become
pure ; the
standing
Waters
become
pure ; all
the
Holy Creatures,
the
Creatures of the
![]()
Good Spirit,
become
pure !
V
Should the Sun
not
arise,
then the
Devas
would
destroy
all the things that are in
the
seven
Kingdoms, and the
Heavenly Forces would
not
be able to find any way of withstanding or
repelling them in
the
material World.
VI
He who offers up a
sacrifice to
the
immortal,
shining,
swift-steeded
Sun,
to
withstand
darkness,
to
withstand the
Devas of
darkness,
to
withstand the
Devas born of
darkness, to
withstand
death that creeps in
unseen,
does
offer it up to
Ahura Mazda,
does
offer it up to
the Ahuras : does
offer it up to
his own soul !
VII
The person
who does offer up a
sacrifice
to the
immortal,
shining,
swift-steeded
Sun :
he
rejoices all the
heavenly
and the
earthly Forces.
VIII
I will
sacrifice to
that
friendship,
the best of all
friendships*,
that
reigns between
the
Moon and the
Sun !
* As they succeed one another in regular order
IX
I
bless the
Sacrifice and
the
Invocation, and the
Strength and
Vigor of
the
immortal,
shining
swift-steeded
Sun !
