USHTAVAD GÂTHÂ

YASNA XLIII

I Give to us, O Ahura Mazda ! the Best of all things:  ASHA. II And please, do teach us the Wisdom of Your  wonderful Thoughts, those of Your  Good Mind, which You have revealed to us by Your  Divine Order with the happy increase of our joy, in a healthy, long daily life!

III You, O Ahura Mazda !  I do regard as the all Powerful and the Giver of all things that are Good.

IV The Flame of Your Holy Fire  is active, through Your  Holy Order, when the Power of Your  Good Mind comes to me.

V O Bountiful, Great Giver ! O Mazda ! I beheld You as supreme in the generation of Life when, by Your  Order, You did establish  happy blessings for the Good, as regarding Deeds and Words, to be adjudged to each when Creation will finally be changed back into its original state. 

VI May You, O Mazda Ahura !  likewise,  grant to me Your Holy Order, since I earnestly invoke Your perfect readiness of Mind. 

VII Yea, I did conceive of You as bountiful, O Ahura Mazda ! when Your  Messenger [Sraosha] did approach near unto me with Your Good Mind, and with Your Words did first impress my Soul. 

VIII I will do that, which You then did say to me was Best to be done, O Ahura Mazda ! 

IX Yea, O Great Creator ! may You please give to me, just like the man who is enlightened in Your Law, and who has possessions, does give to his friend! 

X While You are rejoicing, and with Your abounding Peace,  I am going forth, through  Your Sovereign Power and with the plan of Your Cosmic Order, to arouse the men who are of Your pure confession, along with those others who piously recite Your well remembered Word.

XI , Yea,  I did conceive of Your  unending Blessings, O Ahura Mazda ! when, by the Grace of the Good Mind, by means of Your Sraosha You did come near and said to me : 

XII "Let the quiet, the long enduring better Mind, who is full of Understanding,  teach you!"

XIII May the righteous way of life, according to ASHA, be strong, and even clothed with body ! [= may we reach this perfected way of spiritual being before physical death already, in our earthly lifetime!] Let Peace be present in that Holy Realm, which shines with Splendor, and may, through the indwelling [in our souls] of Your Good Mind,  Blessings be given to us, in reward for Worthy Deeds !

YASNA XLIV

I How may we serve the Supreme One of Heaven toward the establishing of the Better World ? II For He, Bountiful as He is, will ward off ruin from us all, through the Blessings of the Righteous Order, III guardian, as He is, for both the Worlds, O Spirit Mazda ! and a Friend too !

IV This do I ask of You,  O Ahura ! I pray tell it rightly to my Mind : 

V Who was, by generation, the first Father of the Cosmic Order within the World ? VI Who did give the recurring Sun and Stars their undeviating way ? VII Who did establish that, whereby the Moon does wax and whereby She wanes ? 

VIII Who, save You, O Great Creator, has done these glorious things ! These things I would like to know, and still other things I would like to know, too! 

IX This I would like to ask You, O Ahura ! Please do tell it to me and tell me rightly : 

Who did from beneath support the Earth, and did uphold the Clouds from above, that they do not fall? X Who has made the Waters and who makes the Plants ? Who has yoked the swift and even the fleetest Storm-Clouds to the Wind? Who, O Great Creator ! is the Inspirer of the good Thoughts within our Souls ?

XI This I do ask of You, O Ahura ! Pray do tell me rightly : 

Who has, as a skillful Artisan, made the Light and the Darkness ? XII Who, as thus skillful, has made Sleep, and the zest of the waking hours ? Who spread the Auroras [with regular intervals]? and the noontides and the midnight, that are monitors to discerning man, and are duty’s true Guides ?

XIII Does Piety, which we cherish, in reality increase the sacred orderliness within our actions ? Has She given the Realm to these true followers of Yours, through the Good Mind ? 

XIV For whom did You make the Mother-Earth, the producer of joy ?

XV Who did fashion, together with Your Sovereign Power, Who, through His guiding Wisdom, did make the son, to be revering of the father ? 

This is what I ask You, O Ahura ! XVI I Pray You, do tell me aright, that I may ponder these disclosures, which are Your revelations, O Mazda ! XVII and the Words which were asked from You by Your Good Mind within us, the one by which we may attain to this Life’s Perfection, through Your Order. 

XVIII Yea, how may my Soul increase in its Goodness with joyfulness? Thus, let it be!

XIX This I do ask of You, O Ahura ! I pray, do tell it to me rightly : That Holy Faith, which is the Best of all things, and which, going on  hand in hand with Your people, shall it further my lands in  ASHA, Your  Order, Yours? And shall our Piety render justice to action through the Words of Armaïti?

The prayers of my understanding will seek only for You, O You Ahura !

YASNA XLV

I Ahura Mazda ! do make us vigorous through the royal power of  ASHA, the good support and bearing of Your Good Mind, which has Itself been born in us [in our souls], and by Your Own Order [which He made present in our bodies by creation]. II : that of the Lord God Mazda ! For You it is, Who has appointed, in this kingdom of Yours, through Your Holy Order, and through Your Good Mind, both Weal and Immortality, by granting the eternal, mighty Pair to this Land of ours, and to all of Creation!

 YASNA XLVI

I When will they come, O Great Giver [Creator]: They who will bring the Light back into the World, to uphold the Divine Order of Your World, to maintain its continuous progress ?

II When will they become clear to us : the designs of the Saviour Ahuras, with their lofty revelations?

III The inferior man always attempts to hinder from progress those who are the bearers of the Cosmic Order. 

IV Whom have I ever had to support me, then, but You, Your Holy Fire and Your Good Mind, O Ahura ! through the fulfillment of Deeds by which Your Cosmic Order is preserved and nurtured ?

V And as to him [Anghra Mainyu, the evil spirit], who even now, by evil power,  brings harm over all my settlements, let not his deeds of burning wrath come near to harm me, VI but, bearing back the evil will and evil influence of such wrong thought, let these things be returned to strike him, who sent them forth in anger !

VII How may we adore You in our deeds, O Holy, Bountiful  Ahura Mazda ?

Even now Your people are, with Your Good Mind, coming to me, seeking how to gain progress, and to learn from me these Holy Words of Yours [the Ashem Vohu and Yatha Ahu Vairyo prayers], O Ahura Mazda, by aid of Your  Cosmic Order and to aid it [by learning the teaching of Asha's 16 Good Principles of Life that belong to and strengthen it]!

[Before, they were praying:] VIII " Who ever, man or woman, shall give to me those [fertile] gifts of Life [knowledge of the Principles of Life and the Prayers] which You have known as Best, O Mazda !" 

IX And that is why I shall go forth, with these as a Holy Blessing through Your Cosmic Order, and a throne to be established with Your Good Mind: Yea ! those shall accompany me.

X He who shall, according to ASHA, in his Mind and in his actual Life, verily perform for me, for Zarathustra, that which is, thus, most helpful for my cause [That is: following Zarathustra Spitama's original Teaching about living according to the 16 Principles and chanting the Prayers], upon him the Ahuras shall bestow  rewards that are beyond this Earth and all possible blessings !
