Dutch DIP was founded in 2005, when Duo Izvor (Netherlands) was asked to play at the Eastbourne International Folk Festival. To have some more power, Duo Izvor asked Linny on clarinet to join them and the duo became Duo Izvor Plus. At the first festival, people started to call them the Dutch DIP (and ofcourse the DIP means Duo Izvor Plus), so now that has become their name. Dutch DIPs members are Bregje Tijman on accordion, Michiel Bakkes on percussion (tapan, darbuka, dohol and snaredrum) and Linny van der Weijden on clarinet and other flutes. Dutch DIP can perform during dance lessons, workshops and dance bals, but can also give short concerts. The repertoire of Dutch DIP contains pieces from Eastern Europe, like Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia, Kroatia, Macedonia, Greece, Albania, Turkey and Armenia. Since Duo Izvor is specialized in Bulgarian folkmusic, the main repertoire of Dutch DIP is Bulgarian. Since 2005 Dutch DIP has played several times on the Eastbourne Festival in England and several times in Italy on various occasions. In 2010 Linny was unable to join at the Eastbourne Festival, so Annelies Tijman was asked to come with her violin and gadulka. This offered more possibilities for the western European music, since Annelies’ specialty is Scandinavian music. Dutch DIP did not only play the Balkan workshops Greek and the Balkan evening program, but also played the Swedish danceworkshops. Also they played a ‘’canteen concert’’ with eastern ánd western European music.
