About Me
Hi, my name is Dimitri and i live in the Netherlands. The hifi virus was given to me by my father, which has owned several Quad amps and B&W speakers.
HiFi became serious for me when i moved to my own apartment. I bought an Sugden A41 (pre) & Sugden A21ap (power) amplifier combination. The A21ap is truly a great transistor amp, with a valve like sound. I still have it! Later the Audio Innovations was bought and 2 months later an Audion Sterling. The audion was sold again to a friend because of it's limited power. I often play great orchestral work and it seems this was to much for the audion in combination with my speakers. The Audio Innovations replaced the Sugden. With my current system i review other components for the dutch hifi site www.hifi.nl.
My current system which i use for over a year now consist of:
| Amplifier: | Audio Innovations 500 (see note below) |
| Cdplayer: | Krell KAV 250 cd [picture] [pdf] |
| Phono: | Project 1.2 (Will be replaced soon) [picture] |
| Cardridge: | Denon DL-160 High Output Mc cardridge [picture] |
| Speakers: | Audio Note AN-E Spa with Silver voice coils |
| Speakercables: | Siltech LS-80 G3 [dutch review on hifi.nl] |
| Interlink cdplayer: | Siltech ST-48 G3 |
| Interlink phono: | Siltech 4/56 |
| Powercord: | van den Hul Mainstream |
The Audio Innovations 500 is modified with Black Gate capacitors in the signal path. This is a modification which give's an incredible positive effect on the sound. Further the tubes make a lot of difference.
As power tubes an unknow brand or type is used, but they sound like no other EL34. The phase inverters are Philips Ecc-88. The line driver is a telefunken Ecc-83 (17mm smooth plate) tube and the phono section uses again 2 Telefunken Ecc-83 sp(i like the sound of that tube) All tubes are ofcourse NOS tubes. I have a private stock of tube's so i change often, but the telefunken still rullez.
