1. This tutorial explains how to create a low-resolution texture of a brick wall with some dirt on it. |

2. Create a new file.Fill the background with R:57; G:57; B:57 using the Paint Bucketš tool. |

3. This step defines the pattern of the dirt on the wall. You may create your own textures for this step to achieve a more desired effect. I used Sponge filter (Filter > Artistic > Sponge) with all default settings to demonstrate the effect. For production graphics, I suggest creating a more complex pattern. |

4. Invert the image (Ctrl+I). |

5. Apply Underpainting filter (Filter > Artistic > Underpainting) and set Texture as Brick and Light Direction as Bottom Right. Everything else is not important in this example, although you might need to adjust it later for tweaking your texture. |

6. Invert the image to normal colors (Ctrl+I). Apply Unsharp Mask filter (Filter > Sharpen > Unsharp Mask). Settings in this case are totally up to you. But don't got to far, remember, it should be nice and sharp, but there is not suppose to be a lot of white artifacts. |
