Maggie is a closeted lesbian who works for 10% Bookstore. Well, she's only closeted to her mother.
She falls for the spunky Kim . Both financially challenged, they decide to rent a temporary apartment from
a butch lesbian whose on a safe sex education tour. The bad thing is, mom and Maggie's brother Paul are coming to live with her after Lila finds out that her husband's been cheating on her for a year. Add to the list of characters Frances , the butch lesbian owner of 10%. Judy is a pre-op who falls for the unwilling Frances. This is a very fun movie and overall very positive. It was also great to see the bigotry issue within the queer community with a certain scene between Judy and another lesbian in the bathroom of a bar. During the Seattle International Film Festival, Anne Wheeler was gracious enough to answer a few questions from the audience. The story was based on the true struggle between the Little Sisters bookstore in Vancouver, BC, and Canadian customs. After a long 15 years, the Canadian Supreme Court finally ruled in favor of Little Sisters and tightened down on what individual customs officers could declare "indecent".
