Nisha Ganatra's directorial debut is marked as one of the first films about Indian American life and lesbianism. Reena is a second generation Indian lesbian living in New York with her girlfriend Lisa . Reena rides a Harley and is the total rebel. The total opposite is her sister Sarita who recently got married to a Caucasian, Mitch. Sarita's dream is to start a family with Mitch but becomes depressed when she finds out she cannot. Reena concocts a brainy idea to carry the baby for Sarita with Mitch's sperm. But, as always, things don't turn out the way you would expect them to. Madhur Jaffrey is the highlight of the film playing Reena and Sarita's quirky mother.
