Bill Bogaarts (1948) studied at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. His figurative oils and water colours have a surrealistic character.Dream, fantasy and reality are forged into one coherent image, giving a many-layered thematic effect. The subjects are varied: love, law, the medical world, vacation, cattle, landscape, portrait... Light, often from more than one source, is always an important factor in Bill Bogaarts' work. These different types of light - autumn, evening, sun, artificial - create the mood. Using classical tecniques, Bill Bogaarts develops his own vision of mankind and humanity. Critics classify his work as "ironic realism", "neo-romantic" and "psychological impressionism". |
