At the police station Irma meets a strange man named Jewell, calling her "Queen of the water". He tells her she's the only one who can help him. Next to that he tells something about the future of her friends. When Irma wants to give good advice about that, but her awkwardness results to the anger of Cornelia and Will towards her.
Thanks to a book Jewell left at Irma's the girls discover that Jewell is a water's shade, who has taken the appearance of fisherman Benjamin Crane. Jewell is being persecuted for his foretelling capabilities by a criminal who wants to exploit him for his traffics.
The girls are just in time as Zibosky is about to finish Jewell off. Irma restores Jewell's original state.
Meanwhile Maria Medina and Joel McTiennan had a talk with colleague Raphael Sylla, who traced the girls by the happenings on Green Bay. This Sylla arrives at the Sheffield Institute as the new informatics teacher. And from the first day he stays close upon the girls' heels!

It's clear enough Irma's the protagonist here. The family relationship with her and Anna Bannister gets clear now. Moreover the story is characterized by severe emotions!
Sylla can become very dangerous! He already has seen far too much. And when Sylla's around, Cornelia suffers from strange feelings. Hopefully she understands why.

It's crowded with mistakes and differences! To start with Maria Medina who talks about Elyon Brown in picture 25.7.1. But in issue 10 Elyon's name was Portrait! The reason for this is the translation: at that time Guido Matena preferred the name Portrait, and Marja van de Nes prefers the name Brown. Personally I agree with her.
In picture 25.40.1 Irma says something which doesn't match with the course of time. She says she recognizes a man from the police station she saw the day before. But in the meantime two days have passed!

When an accomplice of Zibosky rushes out of the interrogation room Rose manages to restrain him. When he's lying on the floor he wears an earring which wasn't there before.
Irma appears with one earring in her left ear and two in the right one (picture 25.1.3). Then the one in the left ear has disappeared, and sometimes there is only one ring to see in the right ear.
On her turn Maria Medina has no eardrops in, but in picture 25.8.1 she has one in her left ear.

Irma is wearing a sweater without a picture, but during her quarrel with Anna there's suddenly a picture on it!

In picture 25.35.1 "Jewell" is misspelled as "Juwell".


The frame texts of the pictures 25.43.2 and 25.43.3 are changed between each other.
25.21.4: Theresa's safety belt accidentally has the same colour of her jacket.

26: Blackmail

Principal Knickerbocker announces the Sheffield Institute has been selected for the yearly student exchange programme. The best students may go to the Redstone College for three weeks. Meanwhile Thomas Vandom has mean plans in prospect. When he tells Will he never will return to her and Susan she feels deeply embarrassed. This turns out worse when she accidentally witnesses him blackmailing her mother. Susan has to choose: paying a scandalous amount of money or losing Will to Thomas.
Both with Taranee Will asks Kadma for information about her father. Irma, Cornelia and Hay Lin take private investigator Harvey Slimerick, who was hired by Thomas, for their account. But the results are poor. Kadma "can't" help, and at Slimerick's no photo's or negatives are found.

The next day the surprise is big when Thomas draws back.
When Susan and Will are about to celebrate this a disaster happens... Dormouse slips out of Will's hands, runs outside onto the street and bumps into a car. Seriously wounded he is brought at grandpa Olsen's pet shop. But he can't save Dormouse anymore and has to pass him away...

It's unfair what happens to Will in this issue. First she loses all hopes of a reunion of the family, and just when it turns out to be a good ending she looses her beloved dormouse too. Anyway, Matt comes closer to her.

Beyond all this misery there still is something to laugh about. The miserable engineering of door-keeper Gideon gives principal Knickerbocker a black face and a bad temper. Still Cornelia and Irma can stay being funny about it. Hay Lin too gives her credit. Uriah named her "miss ironmongery", she calls him "soap-suds brain" in return.

26.24.2: The artist has given some extra attention to the girls' clothes, which turned out very well.

Now for the mistakes. On picture 26.3.1 Hay Lin has the strap of her bag over the left shoulder, in picture 26.3.4 it hangs over the right shoulder.
Gideon's shirt is closed at the right in picture 26.3.5, in picture 26.5.2 it's closed at the left. It seems the same happens to Thomas. Watch the pictures 26.7.4 and 26.7.6.
During teletransportation Will wears a ring on the right index finger (26.25.2 and 26.42.1), but Taranee (26.37.2) doesn't seem to need that. Further on Will doesn't wear that ring. Every now and then Will has a piercing in her left ear too.

26.55.1: When Susan closes the front door the strap of her bag is on the left shoulder. But when she ran outside right behind Will it's on her right shoulder!(26.56.1)



26.55.3: The pattern on Will's skirt is gone.

27: Divided

Taranee, Cornelia and Hay Lin are selected to go to Redstone. By this the Witch group will be split up for three weeks. Intervention by the minister makes it possible for Sylla to go along, and a number of teachers don't like that at all.
At Lilian's birthday party Taranees spectacles fall and break; she discovers she has a sharp view without them. In Kandrakar the oracle tells her it's a gift from Xin Jing. Taranee rebels and doesn't want to be a subject to the will of Kandrakar any longer. She decides to leave the group for a while. When the girls are called back later she doesn't go along with the others.
The oracle explains the threat of Ari, the ruler of Arkhanta, and the girls should act when needed. Meanwhile a new figure watches them from behind the pillars; it's Orube, the student of Luba, and she hasn't high thoughts about the Guardians.
The next day an airplane moves Taranee, Cornelia and Hay Lin 930 miles from home.

In this issue we find a lot of emotions: excitement, pleasure, sadness, anger, love, joy and frustration. Lilian's party is full with a band of joyful rascals, and panic strikes when mr. Horseberg starts an unexpected oral test.

Unexpected oral tests are the nightmare of students. That's for sure on page 27.34. But there's more going on: take a good look at the students in front of the classroom.



27.22.2: Something weird is happening with Irma's clothes: the places where it is supposed to be green is flesh-coloured, and the places which should be flesh-coloured are purple!



Picture 27.28.3 and 5: The mask in Taranees room has suddenly two feathers more attached to it.

Picture 27.34.2: Many things go wrong with the patterns on Irma's sleeves from page 27.42 to picture 27.45.5. On most pictures the patterns are disappeared completely!
Picture 27.37.5: We can be sure saying that Orube is introduced to us on page 27.39. But when she is the left silhouette on page 27.37 too, a problem occurs. In that case she stands on a spot right on the opposite of the one we see her on page 27.39.

Pictures 27.47.4 and 5: Uriah sees his mean plans of selling the stolen tickets and squandering the money ending to a fiasco. On page 27.27 his sleeves had no stripes yet, but on pages 27.47 and 48 we see five pictures with just one stripe on one sleeve, which moves from the right sleeve to the left. After that both sleeves are without stripes again.

28: So close and yet so far

Taranee, Cornelia and Hay Lin arrive in Port Nelson. At the Redstone College they share a room which is really appreciated.
The next day the Oracle calls for the girls: Ari, disappointed about the Oracle refusing to heal his autistic son Maqui, wants to destroy Kandrakar with the powers of the banshee Yua, who is imprisoned by him. It is the girl's task to give him a last chance to relinquish his plans.
With Taranee in retraite a new one is introduced into the group: Orube, a warrior who once was a student of Luba. Once in Ari's Red Castle they discover how bad their preparations are. Ari is unwilling to listen and Orube's way of acting is detrimental to the unity within the group. In a second try to reach Ari they are forced to retreat.
In Kandrakar the Oracle demands Will and Irma to teach Orube to understand life on Earth.

Again a nice story and good drawings. The scene with Olymar and his companion are typical to Ari's situation. Irma's undeliberate shower, principal Knickerbocker's deafening snoring and the faces of Will and Irma watching Orube knibbling from banknotes are good for a laugh.

Usually grace is to be found on Cornelia, but now we see it on Irma for a change!

Picture 28.26.1: It's clear the artist doesn't know how Cornelia's skirt really looks like. The curl stands the wrong way and the slit is at the right! Only in picture 28.42.3 the curl is correct.

Picture 28.21.6: In some pictures you see Irma's sleeves ending the same way as Cornelia's.

In picture 28.37.3 Will has lost her wings, and the slit in Cornelia's skirt is gone. And it seems Cornelia has lost her wings too every here and there.


In picture 28.19.1 Irma has lost her wings as well and Hay Lin is missing. On her turn Hay Lin lost her wings on pages 28.31 and 28.32. And someone taking attention to it sees the wings continuously have three or four membranes.

Picture 28.39.5: The colours of Irma's top and skirt are mistaken with each other.

29: The lesser evil

Orube has moved into the house of mrs. Rudolph and named as Rebecca Rudolph she makes the first steps in the daily life on Earth. At Redstone College Martin's on the run from a girl, and Cornelia meets the nuisance Rick Fortwort.
The Oracle demands the girls to go to Ari again to ask him to drop his plans. They blend in with the residents of Urdath and help to mash grapes (that's for making wine, Irma!). A tornado closes into the village. Orube doesn't accompany the others in stopping it, which causes the village turned into ruins.
After their return Orube realizes her mistake, and Cornelia finds herself confronted with a superabun- dant gesture from an adorer.

We see Cornelia proving her skills with Rick's frisbee.
Further on it's amazing that the artist draws the slit of Cornelia's skirt on the wrong side! In issues 17 and 25 it all went well!
Talking about Cornelia: it seems she still loves Caleb and judges all Earth boys as idiots. Would she ever become satisfied with someone?

Eating with a spoon seems to be new to Orube; In either case Cornelia is irritated by the sight of it.

29.21.6: Usually front doors open inwards. But this door opens outwards and inwards by turns!

29.38.2: The collar of Will's Guardian's dress has disappeared!

29.41.6: When Orube is standing in the doorway asking the Guardian's attention to the closing tornado she doesn't wear her habit. But in picture 29.42.2 she wears it again!

29.48.4 and 5: First Will holds the top in her right hand, then in her left hand. The next picture she holds the toy in her right hand again!

Talking about the spin: in pictures 29.48.5 and 29.49.1 it goes wrong with its colours. Picture 29.34.3 (left) shows it as it should be.

30: The chamber of tempests

Orube thinks about the past when Will and Irma visit her to invite her for a stroll downtown. There she's confronted with the phenomenon of shopping and the working of theft prevention systems.
In Redstone Taranee, Cornelia and Hay Lin suspect the teacher Sylla from stalking them.
The Guardians and Orube are called for duty, and they are sent right away to Arkhanta. There they get ambushed; Orube becomes separated, falling into the grasp of Yua. After a short fight Yua manages to take possession of Orube's body. When the others find her they take her to Kandrakar, where Yua starts an assault on the Oracle. Will, Irma, Cornelia and Hay Lin can banish Yua right in time.
On Redstone Taranee discovers the true identity of Sylla. Sylla strikes back and puts Taranee under pressure: in her rage she uses her powers against him!

Problems are piling up: Sylla stalking the girls, a suspicious neighbour peeping Orube, two another rebellious Astral Drops and an enemy still being undefeated. It's an interesting stage in the story.
In Ari's little story the Guardians are depicted as cute little pixies. Funny is the scene in which they are caged both with the Oracle who's pleeing for mercy and freedom. The fool apparently doesn't realize he can just fly off on his little cloud between the bars. The Guardians don't even think about escaping; the cage is quite cosy to them.

Just like in the issues number 28 and 29 it goes wrong with Cornelia's skirt from time to time. Besides a few colour mistakes the curl keeps being correct this time.

30.8.6: With pixie Cornelia it goes wrong just for once: she has bare arms. The missing curl is irrelevant in this part.

30.4.4: They are Luba's hands and sleeves, but the colour is from Orube's robe.

30.12.1: The artist strikes us with a joke: watch the worn-out face above the tryout table in the beauty section.


30.42.1: Read Taranees family name carefully! You may read the name 'COOK', but it isn't!

Picture 30.6.3: the texts in the vignettes are switched.

Pictures 30.16.1, 30.16.5, 30.18.2, 30.18.3: Orube carries her sword on the back, but she doesn't have a strap!

31: The voice of silence

The girls' secrets are unveiled, but Sylla's real identity too! This mutual secrecy makes that nothing stands in the girls' way from thwarting him. Taranee puts aside her quarrel with the Oracle and joins the group again. And now they take the initiative to their own!
Beyond the Oracle's knowledge they start a new offensive in Arkhanta. On their way to release Yua they meet Maqui. To their surprise he sees the invisible Guardians and runs away in panic... almost literally into the arms of his largest threat: Yua! Irma is the only one who can take him out of her grasp. Yua calls for Ari, and her lies force the Guardians to retreat again.
On Redstone the time of departure has come. And such a miracle! Right before checking in Cornelia gets back her lost luggage!

What's more threatening: getting defeated by Yua or sent to oblivion by the government? I believe the last. Because the word has been spoken: Operation Termination (&&&#@@*%$$#! It RHYMES!) will commence soon!
A new explanation about the origin of crop circles has also been given.

This time there are just a few mistakes.
In picture 31.16.5 Sylla sees Cornelia running by in his mirror, and obviously she will pass the back of the car. But in picture 31.16.6 she runs in the other direction!

Picture 31.39.4: There is something strange with Cornelia's skirt.

Picture 31.40.4: The curls in Irma's top went to her skirt.

Picture 31.52.7: Though she doesn't need them, Taranees spectacles are gone!

At page 31.46 the texts in the vignettes of Will and Irma are on the wrong places. Hopefully this will be corrected in collection comic number 7 (31 to 35).

Picture 31.51.3: there's a lot in this picture to find! Will has no stripes on the legs, Taranees leg is wrong and Cornelia has lost her left leg! And Hay Lin has in picture 31.46.2 the right sock over the hip!

32: Behind the mask

Back in Heatherfield Taranee discovers that Nigel prefers to evade her. It seems her mother knows the reason of it.
Beyond their knowledge the girls are stalked and being tapped. Sylla gets fired at the Sheffield Institute, and does also hear the news his part in Interpol seems to come to an end. His place is taken over by a dangerous man.
The girls understand that Sylla will meet his boss during the opening of the new amphitheater. But when they're in, Sylla isn't there! But there are his boss Brooke, the dangerous mister Riddle and a couple of agents.
In their try to escape Will gets trapped. The others see her being kidnapped by the Interpol agents with a helicopter. When they find themselves being surrounded by special units, the real Will appears, and she paralyses the enemies.
At the Interpol-headquarters the research on Will's Astral Drop gets interrupted by a raid of Sylla, having Medina and McTiennan with him. But the situation goes out of hand completely, after which the Oracle decides to intervene. He erases the memory of all except for that of Will's Astral Drop, who turns back to Heatherfield.

Great! The enemies take all they have, ending into a miserable failure, and even forget the complete history about the girls. But I've seen this coming. It was just a matter of time before everything became totally out of control.
The fact that Cornelia's father is a bank director made it easy for mr. Brooke to send a royal amount of invitation cards to get the girls trapped.
It was really great to see Riddle realizing his powers are NOTHING to those of the girls, seeing Taranees fiery beam crashing into a pillar.

Time for the mistakes.

32.4.6 en 32.6.6: initially Maria Medina has no ear-drops in, but later she does! The same happened in issue #25.



In pictures 32.8.1 and 32.9.5 we see various mistakes:

- Hay Lin's socks are knee-high first, after that she has   tights.
- Hay Lin loses her ropes necklace.
- First the clock is standing at the left of the couch: after that   it stands at the right from it.

In picture 32.23.2 you see how the corner of the wall looks like. But when McTiennan spies on Will and Cornelia and sees them disappear, the corner of the wall looks different! (32.23.5).

Pictures 32.55.1 en 32.55.3: McTiennan and Riddle both have their weapons in their right hand. But when the guns dissolve into nothing, Riddle holds his gun in his left hand!

33: The largest gift

The girls get the task to release Yua. When they arrive they meet a well-prepared Ari, wearing a magic armour making him invincible. Taranee, Hay Lin and Orube get trapped and are forced to do the job against him. Will discovers Yua won't co-operate in getting released at all.
Meanwhile the Astral Drops are tired of being used by their mistresses, and they decide to practice all of the things which are a parents' nightmare!
Taranee and Hay Lin manage to bring Ari to the floor. Will, Irma and Cornelia join themselves to the others.
When Yua has been released she makes use of the opportunity to leave with Maqui as well as all her magic with which all Ari's properties are established. Ari and the witches get after her. After defeating the other banshees Ari makes the last desperate move against Yua, who drops Maqui down. The boy is dying and only the gift of Xin Jing can save his life. And there's more: he finally talks!
After this happy ending the girls return home. There the Astral Drops have left some traces, and they have a plan too!

The Arkhanta saga has ended here. Now the Astral Drops are left, ready to send the most horrible things into their lifes!

In picture 33.22.3Taranee's cheek line is missing.

In picture 33.24.1 Wills shoulder has been forgotten during the colouring. Also a wing of Cornelia has been overlooked.

When Tom Lair leaves Irma's bedroom (picture 33.34.4) there's no chair to find. In the next picture suddenly there is!

34: The scent of freedom

A friend of Susan gets operated on her tonsils, and Susan gets off to Fadden Hills to babysit. Wills Astral Drop takes this opportunity to pass herself off to her creator towards her friends.
Gradually the Astral Drops have seized control over the girls' minds, through which the girls do things they usually don't.
Nigels behaviour is explained: his brother, back from a community service punishment, moves Nigel on the wrong path. The cause of all of this lies in a trauma in a far history.
Soon the girls get in deep shit with a climax in Golden, where the Astral Drops had a blowout, leaving a large bill.
To evade a boring lecture (from professor Bore!) and go to the fair the girls create their Astral Drops again. These, on the contrary, get off to the fair as well to make havoc, while their creators are waiting for Will in vain. Just as she appears it's too late: the Astral Drops don't want to merge anymore and get away with the night train.

The Astral Drops really have turned evil; With lies, insults and deception the reputation of their creators gets crushed. Still there's a weakness in Will's Astral Drop; She loves Matt too, but she realizes he never will love her!

The mistakes:

34.7: In several pictures you see the colours of Nigel's collar are changing.

Taranee wears a necklace in picture 34.13.5, but not in pictures 34.12.2 and 34.13.4.

First the telephone has nine keys (34.26.3), after that there are twelve (34.26.4).

34.40.5: Cornelia's teeth are in colours!


34.41.2-3: the texts of Irma are mistaken for each other.

34.46.1-3: The cars are driving left, and the driver's seat is at the left too!

35: Mirrored lifes

The Astral drops arrived in Midgale. Without a nickle and a goal they wander through the city until Cornelia's Astrl drop recognizes something from her master's memory: a warehouse. There she gets the opportunity to earn some money as a model.
Spike Morell, a former security employee, recognizes the real Cornelia in her, and sees an chance to take revenge on Harold Hale, who once fired him because he was involved in a bank robbery. A short time later the other Astral drops see her with Taranee's Astral drop passing in a car, and meet Orube as well, who's hunting them down.
Morell calls the Hale residence to tell he keeps Cornelia as a hostage. Meanwhile Astral drops Cornelia en Taranee manage to free themselves, and in their escape they literlally get catched up by Guardian Hay Lin. Meanwhile Orube spoke withe the other three Astral drops and lets them go.

Facts are running deep into the Astral drops, particularly when the head of the fashion section asks for the parents of Astral drop Cornelia. However much do you realize you actually can't exist if you have no parents at all?

Now for the mistakes.

Pictures 35.1.5 and 35.2.1: The bench next to the entrance has disappeared, and the entry itself has changed.

Pictures 35.5.5 and 35.6.7: the pattern on Will's sleeves disappears for several times.
Pictures 35.21.3 and 35.21.4: initially Morell has a black tie, but sometimes it's grey.

Pictures 35.54.1 to 35.54.4: Agent Smith's name tag changes its place from left to the right and vice versa, and his hair changes color.

Except for mistakes there are jokes too. In picture 35.46.2 you see a photograph which you won't see often on a chest, and in picture 35.48.5 you see a man being carried into the hospital with a dog hanging in his bottom.

36: Revolting spirits

The Astral drops Will, Irma en Pao Chai return to Heatherfield, having almost no money to spend. The first one wants to take revenge on her master, the other two want to free the Astral Drops Taranee and Cornelia.
At Taranee's her mother finally explains the behaviour of Nigel.
The next day Will's Astral Drop starts spreading lies about, and she manages to get money from Amanda Bolland. The consequences are soon bound to happen: Matt calls the real Will for Rebecca is, the swimming coach tells Will she's out of the team for a while and Susan comes home furiously, telling Will she's grounded for a week and she can forget about her allowance. Will understands what's happening and raises alarm.
Irma and Pao Chai's attempt to free Taranee and Cornelia turns out terribly wrong and they get trapped.
Will receives her Astral Drop at the door. She discovers that merging is no longer posssible, and her magic has no effect on her double. The Astral Drop tries to escape but gets caught by the other Guardians.
The girls go to Kandrakar with their Astral Drops, where a furious Oracle is awaiting them. The girls get their ears boxed and they decide to give the Astral Drops their freedom. The Oracle gives a new destiny to them and makes them promise to return later.

It took 36 issues before the Oracle got really mad! And even then he holds his temper! Next to that Astral Drop Will behaves herself like a real bitch in Golden. That mean grin on her face would make any mother feel her hands being itchy! The grin on Pao Chai's face when the fire she makes with Irma goes out of control made me smiling!
The style of Alberto Zanon has its effects on the girls, especially on both Wills: their hairs are showing all directions! Despite of that he gave Irma some firm boobs, so it's still worthwile :D.

These images need no comment; Zanon has been very careless with the shirt of Taranees Astral Drop!



Talking about clothes: the Astral Drops returned in Heatherfield in new clothes. Probably they bought them with the money earned from the fashion show.
