Kandrakar rumbles. The oracle's authority is being questioned. Endarno, keeper of the tower of mists, accuses him and the oracle submits himself to a dispute.
Will suspects Matt having an affair with Orube. Cornelia feels herself attracted to Peter, but she discovers that Peter has no interest in girls at all.
Hay Lin is being called from Kandrakar that the Guardians will have to testify in the dispute. But their testimonies just turn against the oracle; he losses the dispute and his status. As a mortal not even knowing his own name, he leaves to his homeworld Basiliade.
When the girls return in Heatherfield they experience the side effects caused bij giving away the gift of Xin Jing. They are exhausted and the hair of Irma and Cornelia are tangled.

Will has learned nothing from the history between Mandy and Matt! Now it's about her love and Orube! She could spare herself much trouble when she tells Matt what she's feeling for him. And why are Cornelia and Will carping at Irma when Taranee strikes the hardest way?
With Endarno having pleasure to kick the oracle out of Kandrakar we have a new real bastard. The Guardians won't be finished with this character yet.

In picture 37.5.2 Will still has only one strap over her shoulder; after that her bag has two straps.

Pictures 37.19.5 and 37.19.6: The knight on Cornelia's history book doesn't know where to look. Moreover the title first reads "History", after that it reads "Geschiedenis". But that has practical reasons.

Picture 37.40.6: From time to time a Guardian is forgotten. Cornelia was supposed to be sitting next to Irma at the left. But it's Taranee who disappears the most often!

38: Desires of the Heart

The girls are getting bad grades, and their parents are called about it. Will still has trouble with Matt, followed by Orube. Martin keeps avoiding Irma, and yet she takes it to heart. In Kandrakar the elections for the new Oracle have begun.

Hay Lin visits the initiation ceremony on her own. There she witnesses how Endarno becomes the new Oracle. And he announces great changes at once!
The next day all the girls get to a changed Kandrakar. Yan Lin shows them the history of Endarno.
In the great hall the new Oracle Endarno is very clear: Will has to give back the Heart of Kandrakar! But Will refuses.
Taranee and Cornelia take care for Irma's lonelyness and organize a blind date for her. They introduce Hugh Jones to Irma. But he is a disappointing character; Hugh lacks any sense of humor and he is a menace to Irma's sweet appetite.
To earn extra credit the girls need to do extracullicular activities. In Kandrakar Endarno orders Vaal to find three new Guardians to replace the current ones.

Endarno reveals himself. He justifies the abuse of powers through which he could kick out the former Oracle. And if you have read the Philippine version, you will understand he's a sexist too!

The bunch of fools calling themselves 'the wise' are easily deceived by Endarno. If someone is wise, the Guardians are!!

Mistakes and facts:
38.40.4: The curls in Will's skirt are purple!

38.41.6: Usually Yan Lin reaches the girls' shoulders in height, now she has turned into a midget.

38.16.7: Next to Hay Lin a comic of the Maus series lies on the floor.
37.16.2: The wind chimes has seven pipes.
38.16.2: Now there are just five left.
38.49.4, 5 and 7: The foot-end of the bed looks strange; the floor is changing and the cell-phone moves itself.

39: On the Wings of Remembrance

During her skating practice Cornelia falls and sprains her ankle. Therefore she gets argueing with her mother, and finally she locks herself up in her room. Endarno observes her and finds a way to isolate the Guardians from their vicinity.
In the tower of Mists he reveals his real identity to Cedric. He's Phobos, having overtaken the body of Endarno.
To affect Cornelia he sends out a dangerous crystal butterfly to Heatherfield, which erases all memories to Cornelia, but gets intercepted at Hay Lin's.
However, the harm has already been done. Only the other Guardians recognize Cornelia. Relatives, friends and family never heard about her, and Cornelia feels herself as if she never existed.
The butterfly gets in touch with the Heart of Kandrakar, after which the Guardians get into the Garden of Memories. They encounter a crystal double of Cornelia, which makes Cornelia experience some memories. It becomes too much for Cornelia and she destroys her double. Doing so the spell is broken.

Do these Jarina and Moriange really have to be the new Guardians? That must be a joke! No, Phobos nullificates Kandrakar's authority over the universe with those! It's interesting that Cedric joins the party. Those who know him from the Meridian Chronicles know he's an absolute loser, and he will be that again this time.

The perspective of the couch where Cornelia lies on isn't completely right. 39.3.2 In picture 39.47.1 Cornelia is wearing lace-up boots. And in the next picture the left stocking of Hay Lin reaches over her hip.
Picture 39.47.4: Cornelia's crystal double appears with a broken wing. But in picture 39.53.2 the broken wing is whole again!

40: The ultimate secret

Matt is planning to date Will to get closer again. In Kandrakar Endarno demands Elyon to abdicate and give the Crown of Light. Elyon refuses, which is reason for Endarno to dispatch the Guardians to arrest Elyon and bring the Crown with them. Instead of that they take Elyon to Heatherfield and the Crown stays in Meridian. Therefore Endarno has to put aside his next plans.
Cedric has set a trap for Will and Matt. Matt invites Will to the reopened carnival and go for a ride on the Ferris wheel. When they are on the highest point the Ferris wheel halts and the carnival turns back as it was for years: deserted and ruinous. Matt falls down and Will saves him with the Heart. Then Cedric comes in action. He manages to take the Heart, but its power turns against him when he tries to destroy Will...

The most funny are the Grumper girls in the Rock & Roll Café looking for Will and Matt in vain, getting saddled up with two smudgy characters who ask them to dance.

In picture 40.6.6 there are two bills on the pillar, in picture 40.7.5 there are three of them.

In picture 40.39.2 the back and the left wing of Irma are not complete.

41: The entire truth

Will asks Matt to promise never to tell the secret about the Guardians to anyone. She herself waits telling it to the others. For the time being she has to lie about it.
Cedric failed and Endarno takes it very bad. Still he dispatches Cedric to make a new try.
Peter and Joel managed to get tickets for Karmilla's concert.
In Meridian Caleb and Nagadir miss their queen Elyon, who's already in Heatherfield for a while. Despite the presence of her friends Elyon feels herself alone.
Endarno calls for the Guardians to give them a chance to prove their loyalty to him, and now it's serious... if they don't bring Elyon to Kandrakar soon, they will be replaced.

Picture 41.20.4 is the only one wherein Cornelia wears an eardrop.

42: The man without a name

Will tells Susan she has a date with Matt. Susan hardly knows about him and doesn't trust it at all.
Elyon decides to go to Kandrakar. She hopes to find out the reason for Endarno's behaviour and if there's a solution for it.
When she's in Kandrakar with the Guardians Endarno asks for the Crown of Light. Elyon refuses to give it up and Endarno locks her up in the Tower of Mists.
The Oracle is still looking for his identity and gets in trouble. He gets saved by Master Yarr and his pupils Kilubi and Ih-Shui. Yarr seems to recognize him, but he doesn't really believe so. He also doesn't believe the Oracle doesn't know his name. To find that out the Oracle has to go into the Lake of Red Light.
To travel between worlds unsuspected the Guardians get the Breath of Time, which Cornelia will carry with her. Now they can go to Meridian to get the Crown of Light while time stands still in Heatherfield.
Misfortune strikes when the Crown apparently is in a case which can't be opened by a protective spell. Endarno shows no understanding when he hears about this.
Meanwhile, Elyon -gradually losing her powers- has understood Endarno is no one else but her own brother Phobos, and Hay Lin is worried about the absence of her grandmother.
On Basiliade the Oracle has put through the test and finally knows his name: Himerish.

In Italy this issue is called "L'uomo senza nome", meaning "The man without a name". "Beyond all Hope" is the Phillipine version.
In Witch issue 40 Elyon entrusted the Crown to Caleb far from the city. How in heck did he get the Crown in the case then?

In picture 42.46.1 the slits in Irma's skirt are missing.

43: Tricks of Light

Yan Lin becomes the new guard of the Tower of mists, getting the opportunity to visit Elyon, who's powers are getting drained from gradually. She explains Elyon the plans of Phobos and his need of the Crown of Light and the Heart of Kandrakar to achieve them. To prevent this Yan Lin asks Elyon to give the core of the Light of Meridian.
Will tells the others that Matt knows the secret of the Guardians. Instead of receiving their understanding she gets reproached. Will starts to isolate herself after that.
Hay Lin discovers Cornelia has an eye on Peter. Irma gets more contact with Joel. Orube receives an unexpected invitation from her neighbour Fieldestein.
At night Yan Lin visits Will in her dreams and explains the situation in Kandrakar and she entrusts the core of the Light of Meridian to Will to make it possible to acquire the Crown of Light. The contact is broken when Phobos catches Yan Lin in the act. From then Yan Lin is ruled out.
When Will explains the whole story to the others the next day, at last the girls know what's happening. Orube offers help to find back the Oracle in Basiliade and take him back to Heatherfield.
In the meantime Endarno/Phobos is very discontented about the poor information given by Cedric.

At last the girls know who they are dealing with! At last they know what to do! Phobos/Endarno has definitely lost his authority over them.

At page 43.14 Hay Lin and Cornelia walk on the right side of the street first, then at the left side without crossing it.

43.58.2-3: If you look well you see Sharr has changed place.

43.17.3: On pages 43.17 and 43.18 something funny is going on. The kitchen and the bathroom are next to each other. But when you look in the corridor you see their entries are too close to each other.

44: Never alone, ever again

The girls are torn apart, distracted by their own business: Cornelia doesn't want to have anything with the others. Hay Lin is worried about her grandmother and doesn't understand why Yan Lin made contact with Will instead of her.
Taranee and Irma have their attention to their friends Nigel and Joel.
Will has big problems: by her confession of talking about the secret of the Guardians to Matt she lost the confidence from the others. She hasn't got the courage to tell Matt about that, risking their mutual friendship.
Will is the first one meeting Orube again, both with the Oracle who allows to be called Himerish. Both with Cornelia they go to Meridian again, where they succeed getting the Crown of Light out of its case.
Back on Earth the Oracle announces the next mission: to set Elyon free and capture Phobos.

Will's closeness is becoming a bore. Why doesn't she dare to share her feelings with the boy she loves? And Hay Lin! She should learn to understand her grandmother makes the priorities in her business, not she herself. Coincidence has something up with Hay Lin: when she meets Eric's parents they happen to be the same who she spilled the soup over their clothes. Great! But the positive thing above all she made her brace to ornaments and gave them to her friends.

Picture 44.2.3: a coloring error has been made. Now mrs. Finney's ear-drop has turned brown.

Picture 44.36.3: the same has happened with Cornelia. Now you can't see that she's wearing the Breath of Time.

Another typical thing. In issue 42 Cornelia leaves the Breath of Time behind, which gets its original size. This time she wears it too as a Guardian.

45: Double deception

Hay Lin is doing her best to make a good impression on Eric's parents, but she fails by the telepatic calls she receives. Even Irma's good advice doesn't work out. Thanks to Himerish the girls put down their fights.
To his annoyance Phobos has to undergo the magical fast. But he takes care for it that no one stands in his way when he interrupts it.
When the witches and Himerish enter the Tower of Mists they don't know Cedric observes them. He reports that to Phobos. Instead of rewarding Cedric Phobos betrays his henchman, and Kandrakar gets in a state of confusion. This hinders our group in their search for Elyon.
Tibor gets into action and frees Yan Lin from her state of unconciousness. At once she goes to the Tower of Mists to help. When they finally enter the cell of Elyon they can't leave it, and no one else can get in. Will returns the Crown of Light to Elyon, whereafter she gets awake.

Action at last! And we're just halfway of this battle, so there's a lot of interesting things to expect.
Hay Lin could have been waiting before going to Eric again to show she has no braces anymore. It's less important than spare the universe a terrible fate.
It's strange to know that in Witch issue 22 the girls had no problems to move outside the Fortress to eliminate Nerissa, and now, except for Hay Lin, they stand on an edge, being cautious not to fall. And Irma suffers the most because of her height fear.

45.33.1: Irma's skirt is green.

45.32.1 and 45.32.2: First Cornelia has the Breath of Time with her, below the navel. The next picture she's lost the chain. Later we see it back again, above Cornelia's navel. But even then it disappears from time to time.

45.49.3: It's clear to see that Himerish has let Will and Cornelia pass him first. And he suggests the others to do the same.

45.50.1: But later we see him standing as if he went outside first!

46: The power of courage

Disaster strikes in Heatherfield while the Guardians are saving Kandrakar: The breath of time loses its power. Time continues in the city and the Guardians will be missed.
Will thinks she gives the Crown of Light to Elyon, but it's Cedric. He takes them by surprise and immobilize the group. In exchange for his help to bring Phobos to power Cedric has some demands in store.
The Guardians and Himerish free themselves with an overload of their magic powers. Soon Will disappears and arrives at Phobos. He tries to convince her to give him the Heart of Kandrakar. He hopes she will do so by letting her experience her greatest fears.
Matt, who's already suspecting Will is busy in her second life, has to lie to Susan to give and alibi to Will. When he arrives at Orube's she helps him to give an excuse for the other Guardians.
While Irma, Taranee, Cornelia and Hay Lin find and free Elyon, does Himerish the same with Endarno still imprisoned in Phobos' body.
Will takes the risk; she conjures up the Heart of Kandrakar, but she doesn't give it up! The energy cast out by the Heart makes Phobos lose the battle, and he returns into his own body. In a last attempt to escape he finds himself stuck, and he chooses for an eternal fall into nothingness. Kandrakar and the universe are saved!

Cedric gets himself fooled till the end! What sense does it have to rule a world when the last laugh is on Phobos? It's him who would rule the universe!
We have a new artist: Flavia Scuderi, who clearly shows her talent with the pencil. She can match herself with Manuela Razzi, who produced already many great pictures.

Picture 46.2.2: So Cornelia did leave the Breath of Time behind! That was a double mistake in the previous issue then.




Picture 46.24.2: No mistake, but the dreadful vision of Will as Phobos showed her. She loses her friends and Matt forever.

Picture 46.1.2: We see an already transformed Cornelia putting off the Breath of Time to leave it with Orube. However, in the previous issue she left through a portal untransformed!

47: The sands of time

Cornelia takes an aquarium to her room when Peter is at the door. She almost falls and the Breath of Time falls beneath the couch. In her bedroom sh discovers the pendant has cracked. And when she looks outside it seems to be raining sand.
The next morning she discovers all clocks in Heatherfield have ceased to function from the moment the Breath of Time fell. The daily life turns into chaos.
But there's more: Cornelia finds an old diary with a picture made by Elyon. At school Taranee sees a Meridian rushing into the restroom. When she follows him she finds herself in Meridian and gets confronted with Frost. On her turn Hay Lin found her grandma busy in the kitchen. The latter gets shocked when Hay Lin asks her why she isn't in Kandrakar, asking what her granddaughter knows about it.
The most weird of all is that Thomas and Eleanor Portrait reappeard both with Elyon and are being interrogated by the police. But just as they appeared they also vanish under the nose of Tom Lair. At HQ Will tells she tried to contact Kandrakar but in vain.
when they put all their thoughts together one name comes up: Phobos. As an answer he appears in person. He's a projection which continuously solidifies, and the Guardians can't do anything against him.
The same time Napoleon enters Cornelia's room to "watch" the fishes. Trying this he pushes the Breath of Time into the aquarium. The last remaining sand starts to move again and Phobos starts to fade away. Now the girls finish him off forever.
The cracked pendant gets brought to Kandrakar, where a new Breath of Time is developing. Cornelia turns it to restore the situation in Heatherfield. When the sands have fallen in the lower part the girls can return home before the moment the old pendant cracked. And only the girls will know what happened.

Picture 47.6.7: Peter's necklace is missing. Pictures 47.30.4 and 47.41.3: Strange things are happening with Cornelia's bedroom door:

48: New horizons

Irma finds an announcement of the opening of a new dancing school. It's managed by Kevin Jensen, the choreographer of Karmilla. She calls Joel and gets mad when he tells her he can't go with her. After a visit in Kandrakar Taranee proposes to go with her.
The next day is a disappointing one for Irma and a great one for Taranee. Except for Kevin Jensen they also meet his daughter Sheila.
Sheila appears not to be a very nice person, and soon she gets impopular at Sheffield Institute. Irma and Cornelia prefer to avoid her. Only Taranee knows to build up a relationship with her.
When Irma meets Joel again he tells the reason for not going with her, and she forgives him. Will and Taranee have their reasons to be happy. Matt tells Will she can count on him when she's on a mission, and Taranee gets her mother's permission to go to the audition of the Dance Academy.

Now that everything about Phobos has ended, peace has returned. Will the girls finally have the time to spend on themselves?

Pictures 48.18.5 and 48.18.6: Irma gives the tray with cookies to Taranee. But when Kevin Jensen shakes hands with Taranee it has disappeared. The same happens to the bracelets around Irma's left wrist. They disappear in picture 48.40.1 as well.
