A Warhammer Ancient Battle Page by Richard Evers

Background

My name is Richard Evers. I am 38 years old. And I am still playing with toy soldiers. (At least that is what I tell people that take a strange look at the miniature soldiers that I display in my living room.) They usually don’t believe that I paint these figures myself. But after showing them my attic, that is completely dedicated to playing Warhammer, they are finally convinced.

Over the last years I collected a vast Orcs & Goblins army, which contains all possible units and some more… Furthermore I also collect Dwarves, Beastmen and all three kinds of elves.

I also finished a Warhammer Fantasy Battles "dogs of war" army, with a Greek mythology theme. (Think of all the possibilities; Satyrs, Minotaurs, Greek phalanx pikes, Centaurs, Amazons skirmishers, lots of heroes (who hasn’t read Homer) and finally of course a Cyclops.)

Nowadays I'm playing a lot of Warhammer Ancient Battles. If've got a Roman republic ArmyRoman imperial army , Carthaginian army, Greek army and Epirote army. At least, that's when I'm not spending quality time with my wife Blanca and my two sons Wolf and Arend.

With a little group in Eindhoven and a club in Delft and a club in Hoek van Holland we play lots of WAB games. We even managed to play in Nottingham, England and in Paris, meeting very interesting people.

My attic is furnished to play war games, paint figures and display them. I feel quite privileged to be able to keep a permanent playing table in my house.

I also been testing the successors for Jeff Jonas successor book, which really boosts the hobby to another level. Much reading of historic sources, scanning the Internet, discussing possible tactics and military clothing, and replaying historical battles.

I think I contaminated my kids with the war game virus too

Please tell me what you think of these pages. I really like to know.

Enjoy,
