Clare & Hans tie Irish knot

With an all-star cast from Holland and Ireland, Hans and Clare got married in Galway, Ireland on Saturday, 5th May 2007. Cheered on by their extended families, the happy couple made their vows to each other with the help of a fittingly eccentric Irish padre, who enlivened the wedding ceremony with the addition of a couple of unexpected blessings. In one, the couple stood together while blessings were said and a Celtic ring made of straw was passed around them. In a second, the couple's fertility was blessed as the parents and grandmother of the couple were invited to sprinkle spinach seeds over and around them, much to the amusement of the crowd.

The wedding was followed by a fine meal on Galway's waterside before the company adjourned to the pub for some music and drinks.
