Family holiday on Schier

Recently Simon, Simone and Zoë enjoyed their first holiday together. The destination of their choice was Schiermonnikoog, one of the Dutch islands. Maybe not quite as exotic as her parents are accustomed to, but Zoë's presence made this charming location all the more fun!
Despite the fact that the travel time is a mere hour by road and less than an hour by ferry, the logistics of getting there turned out to be about as much a challenge as travelling around the world. The Sims had no idea what to bring along for their week-long holiday and so they brought it all. Car seat, cot, baby carrier, pushchair, jungle gym, lots of other necessary stuff and of course Zoë herself.
Opa and oma, who were joining for a couple of days, packed their car to the brim, but it still meant that Simon had to take the bus. Along with an empty pushchair and one mighty big bag.
But, they all got there, and the next week was spent in the very charming little 'Nieuwsblad' house, just outside the village, tucked in between both the old and the current lighthouse. The latter shining it's rythmic light into the bedroom every night.
As luck would have it, the weather was absolutely gorgeously un-dutch. The family hired bikes with a kid car for Zoë who loved being towed around the island, through the forest and along the dunes. The rest of the days were spent relaxing in the sun.
