Zoë's first pearly white

To Simon and Simone's great surprise, Zoë's first tooth has started to appear. At a mere five-and-a-half months, and with her mummy still breastfeeding her (ouch!), this is quite an unexpected development. The very sharp little ridge is currently only just peeking through, but Zoë will soon have an even more adorable grin than she already has, sporting a sole pearly white. The appearance of the tooth followed profuse drooling and enthousiastic chewing of anything and anyone Zoë could get her little hands on.
The teething is not the only milestone Zoë has reached in the past few weeks. She's started rolling onto her belly! This big feat was not accomplished without a struggle, though. The very first time Zoë managed to roll over was late in the evening. Simon and Simone were startled by sudden frantic crying and found Zoë in her bed, on her belly, but with one leg awkwardly stuck between the bars of the cot.
If they thought this traumatic experience might put Zoë off trying to roll, they were wrong. The next day she pushed, grunted and struggled long enough to roll from back to tummy and now that she's got the hang of it, she can be found on her side or belly more often than not. She still needs rescueing every now and then, but her parents are confident their super girl will be able to roll back by herself soon enough! Who knows, she might even start crawling. Right now she wildly flaps arms and feet as if she's parachute jumping. Or trying to break Olympic swimming records. For now all this action is not actually getting her anywhere though. But it's only a matter of time - as Simon put it so well the other day: "she has learned and mastered more things in 5 months time, than I have done in the past 15 years!" (or shall we make that 30 years?)
